BTBS Terms & Conditions

Main Event — Art Contest

1. About the Theme

BOLD TO BE SEEN 2026 is dedicated to supporting emerging artists who dare to speak up, dare to be visible, and dare to create from a distinct point of view.

But BOLD isn't one thing. It can be loud — saturated color, oversized type, visuals that command the room. It can also be quiet — a confident line, a single gesture, a piece that holds its ground without raising its voice. We're looking for work that owns its voice — work you'd put your name on.

2. Contest Schedule

All times are in Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

  •  Submission Period: July 15, 2026 (12:00 AM) – August 31, 2026 (11:59 PM)
  •  Initial Review: September 1, 2026 (12:00 AM) – September 6, 2026 (11:59 PM)
  •  Public Voting: September 7, 2026 (12:00 AM) – September 21, 2026 (11:59 PM)
  •  Winner Announcement: September 23, 2026

All Submissions must be submitted prior to the close of the Submission Period and must comply with these Official Rules and any participation guidelines published on the event page.

Entrants are responsible for monitoring the event page throughout the competition period for any revisions to deadlines or requirements. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for an Entrant's failure to do so.

3. Eligibility

  • The contest is open only to legal residents of the United States who are 21 years of age or older at the time of entry.
  • Submissions must be the entrant's own original work. Entrants must own or have secured all necessary rights, permissions, and authorizations to submit, publish, and license the Submission.
  • Submissions must not infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, right of publicity, privacy right, or any other legal right. Submissions found to be unauthorized or infringing may be disqualified.
  • Submissions that have previously won an award in another competition are not eligible. Works previously shared on the entrant's personal social media or portfolio may be submitted, provided they have not previously won an award.
  • This Event is void where prohibited by law. Specifically, residents of the jurisdictions including but not limited to, CA, MI, MA, are NOT eligible to participate.

4. Submissions

4.1 Submission Channel

The official event page is the primary submission channel. The Sponsor may, but is under no obligation to, identify and collect potential submissions shared through official WhatsApp groups and the LOST MARY Circle. By sharing any work through such channels, the entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, content standards, and the rights and licenses granted herein. The Sponsor may, at its sole discretion, finalize such work as an official entry or invite the entrant to submit through the official event page, provided the work meets the applicable file requirements. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any work shared informally that is not collected or finalized as an entry, including any failure to identify such work.

4.2 Submission Type

Submissions must be original 2D artworks created in response to the contest theme, "BOLD TO BE SEEN." Eligible formats include, but are not limited to, graphic design, illustration, digital illustration, and digital art.

4.3 File Requirements

  •  Dimensions: 9:16 portrait
  •  File format: JPG, PNG, or TIFF
  •  Maximum file size: 50MB per file

4.4 Submission Limit

Each entrant may submit up to three (3) Submissions. Submissions cannot be edited, replaced, or revised after upload.

4.5 Creative Tools

There are no restrictions on design software. AI-assisted tools are permitted, but entrants must truthfully disclose any AI use at the time of Submission.

4.6 On AI Tools

AI-assisted creation tools, including but not limited to Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and DALL·E, are permitted. Entrants who use AI tools must disclose such use truthfully at the time of Submission and remain fully responsible for the originality, legality, and rights clearance of their work. Submissions will be evaluated based on the creative judgment, visual direction, and originality behind the final work, not simply the tools used to create it.

4.7 Source Files

Entrants must retain editable source files and work-in-progress materials for all submitted Submissions. Winners may be required to provide source files for verification. Failure to provide the requested files may result in forfeiture of the award.

4.8 Content Standards

Submissions must be complete, fully original, and free from plagiarism. Submissions must not contain hateful, violent, sexually explicit, or politically extremist content, content that is youth-appealing (including cartoon styles primarily designed to appeal to minors), or any other content that is unlawful or non-compliant under U.S. law.

Each Submission submitted must meet the following requirements:

  • Must not contain defamatory, derogatory or disparaging statements or imagery directed at the Sponsor, its products, or any third-party individual, brand or entity;
  • Must not include content inconsistent with the Sponsor's desired positive brand image and reputation. This prohibition includes, without limitation, content that is threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, intimidating, obscene, indecent, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable, as determined at the Sponsor's sole discretion;
  • Must not violate any applicable federal, state, or local law or regulation; and
  • Must not incorporate the name, likeness or any personally identifiable information of any living or deceased individual unless the entrant has obtained prior explicit written authorization from that individual — or, where the individual is a minor, from their parent or legal guardian — permitting such use in connection with this Contest. Proof of such authorization must be provided to the Sponsor upon request.

5. Evaluation Criteria

Submissions are evaluated across the following three dimensions.

  • Brief Interpretation — How well the work responds to the contest theme, "BOLD TO BE SEEN." We value personal, thoughtful, and unexpected interpretations of the theme, rather than purely literal responses.
  • Visual Form & Style — The freshness and integrity of the work's visual expression. We look for work that surprises and feels distinctive, whether through form, visual language, structure, or any other element.
  • Originality — Submissions must be original works created by the entrant. Imitations, derivative works, unauthorized adaptations, AI-generated reproductions of existing artists' or recognizable styles, collages of third-party work, or formulaic Submissions may be disqualified.

6. Evaluation Process

The contest will be conducted in two rounds: Initial Review and Final Voting.

6.1 Initial Review, September 1 – September 6, 2026 (EDT)

The LOST MARY organizing committee will review all Submissions for eligibility, technical requirements, originality, and compliance with these Official Rules. Submissions that pass the Initial Review will advance to the Final Voting round.

6.2 Final Voting, September 7 – September 21, 2026 (EDT)

Public Voting — All qualified Submissions will be displayed on the LOST MARY Official Event Page and open for public voting during the Final Voting period.

Judging Panel Selection — Within the final 24 hours of the Public Voting period, each judging panel member may select one Submission from the current top 10 Submissions ranked by public votes. Each Submission selected will receive an additional 100 votes added to its final vote count.

6.3 Award Determination

After Final Voting closes, the top 50 Submissions by total final vote count — including public votes and any votes added through Judging Panel Selection — will receive their corresponding awards.

All valid Submissions will be published on the official event page for public voting. Final rankings are determined by cumulative public vote count combined with evaluation by the judging panel.

The total prize pool for this Contest is subject to the number of valid Submissions received by the close of the Submission Period. The prize structure is categorized as follows:

  • Tier 1 (200+ valid Submissions): The full prize pool as described in Section 8.1 will be awarded.
  • Tier 2 (100–199 valid Submissions): The prize amounts for 1st through 50th place will be awarded at 50% of the value stated in Section 8.1.
  • Tier 3 (Below 100 valid Submissions): The Sponsor reserves the right to declare the Contest void, or to award a scaled-down prize pool at its sole discretion, in which case all entrants will be notified via the official event page.

By participating, all entrants acknowledge and agree to this tiered structure. The determination of the number of valid Submissions and the resulting prize tier is final and binding.

7. Voting Rules

  • Voters cast one vote every 30 minutes and may use it to support their favorite qualified Submissions.
  • After casting a vote, voters may unlock access to the Co-creation Contest.
  • Co-creation Submissions may be entered into future public voting and review processes. Selected winners may receive rewards, subject to the applicable rules of that event. Please refer to the dedicated Co-creation Contest page for full details and rules.

7.1 Voter Eligibility

Voting is open only to individuals who are 21 years of age or older. By casting a vote, each voter confirms that they meet this age requirement. To cast a vote, voters must verify a valid email address. The Sponsor reserves the right to require additional verification of age or identity at any time, and to invalidate any vote cast by a voter who does not meet the eligibility requirements or who provides false information.

7.2 Prohibited Voting Conduct

Vote manipulation is strictly prohibited. This includes, without limitation, the use of bots, scripts, automated tools, plug-ins, multiple or duplicate accounts, fraudulent or fake accounts, third-party vote-buying or vote-farming services, or any inducement of others to vote through such means.

The Sponsor monitors voting activity through a combination of technical measures and manual review. Where the Sponsor identifies vote manipulation, it may, at its sole discretion:

  • Invalidate and deduct any votes determined to be fraudulent or non-compliant, and adjust the affected Submission's vote count accordingly;
  • Suspend or permanently ban the offending account(s), and reserve the right to pursue any available legal remedies;
  • Publicly disclose instances of vote manipulation; and
  • Disqualify any Submission found to have benefited from vote manipulation, in which case the associated entrant forfeits all award eligibility and bears any resulting consequences.

The Sponsor's determinations regarding vote validity and manipulation are final and binding.

Each completed Co-Creation Submission, made after casting a vote for a Submission, will contribute an additional 10 votes to that Submission's total vote count.

11. Submission License; Rights Clearance; Publicity Release

11.1 General Submission License (For All Entrants)

By entering the Contest, uploading a Submission, or submitting any materials in connection with the Contest, each entrant represents and warrants that the entrant has read, understood, and agreed to these Official Rules.

Entrant retains ownership of the copyright, if any, in and to entrant’s Submission. However, by submitting a Submission, entrant hereby grants Sponsor, its affiliates, and authorized designees a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up license to use, reproduce, copy, publish, display, perform, distribute, and transmit the Submission, in whole or in part, solely for the purposes of administering the Contest, facilitating public voting, displaying entries in a public gallery or exhibition, and advertising, marketing, or promoting the Contest and future iterations thereof across any media or platforms now known or later developed.

For the avoidance of doubt, under this general license, Sponsor will not commercialize, sell, or manufacture products based on unselected Submissions without negotiating a separate agreement with the entrant. Sponsor will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide standard credit or attribution to the entrant when displaying unselected Submissions, subject to platform limitations. Sponsor may crop, resize, or reformat unselected Submissions strictly as necessary for display or technical compatibility.

11.2 Rights to Selected Submissions (Buyout for Winners/Finalists)

If a Submission is selected as a winner, finalist, or is otherwise selected by Sponsor for commercial production (a “Selected Submission”), entrant agrees that, in consideration for the prize awarded, Sponsor shall own all right, title, and interest in and to the Selected Submission.

Upon selection, entrant irrevocably assigns, transfers, and conveys to Sponsor all copyrights, trademark rights, design rights, and other intellectual property rights in the Selected Submission. For Selected Submissions, Sponsor shall have the exclusive, perpetual, worldwide right to modify, edit, adapt, create derivative works from, manufacture, commercialize, sell, and exploit the Selected Submission for any commercial purpose, without further compensation, notice, or approval.

11.3 Waivers and Further Assurances

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, entrant irrevocably waives any and all "moral rights" or "droit moral" in the Submission, provided that for unselected Submissions, Sponsor agrees not to modify the work in a manner that would be highly detrimental to the entrant's reputation.

Sponsor may require the entrant of a Selected Submission, as a condition of receiving a prize or having the Submission commercialized, to sign and return additional documents, including an assignment of rights, exclusive license, work-made-for-hire confirmation, or other rights-clearance documents. Failure to sign and return such documents within the time specified by Sponsor may result in disqualification or forfeiture of the prize.

11.4 Rights Clearance and Warranties

Entrant represents and warrants that: (a) the Submission is entrant’s original work or entrant has obtained all rights, licenses, permissions, and consents necessary to grant the rights described herein; (b) the Submission does not infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, trade dress, design right, patent, privacy, publicity, or other personal or proprietary right of any third party; (c) the Submission does not contain any unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or offensive content; (d) the Submission does not contain any third-party brand names, logos, copyrighted materials, or designs without necessary permissions; and (e) if any person is identifiable in the Submission, entrant has obtained a valid written release from that person (or their guardian) permitting Sponsor to use their likeness as contemplated herein.

Except for the prize awarded to Selected Submissions in accordance with these Official Rules, entrant will not be entitled to any compensation, royalty, or other payment in connection with Sponsor’s use of any Submission as permitted herein. Each entrant further represents that the Submission contains no confidential information.

12. Agreement to Official Rules & Disqualification

12.1 Agreement to Official Rules

By entering the Contest, each entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to these Official Rules and to the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest. By submitting a Submission, entrants expressly consent to participation in marketing, promotional, and endorsement activities conducted by the Sponsor and its partners. The Sponsor's rights to reproduce and display submitted works are governed strictly by Section 11 of these Official Rules.

12.2 Disqualification

Any Submission failing to comply with provisions set forth in these Official Rules will be disqualified and ineligible for awards of any kind. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant found to be in violation of these Official Rules.

13. Limitation of Liability

By participating in the Contest, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies (where applicable), and their respective agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders, and employees from and against any and all injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions, and liabilities of any kind arising out of or in connection with your participation in the Contest or any prize received. The Sponsor shall not be liable for any failure of communications resulting from technical malfunctions of computer systems, telephone networks, cables, servers, or internet connectivity; hardware or software failures; virus-related issues; or incomplete, delayed, or misdirected Submissions. In the event that any factor beyond the Sponsor's reasonable control disrupts the administration, security, or integrity of the Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest and to select winners from unaffected Submissions at its sole discretion.

13.1 No Responsibility for Submission Failures

The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for:

  • Late, lost, stolen, damaged, corrupted, incomplete, erroneous, or misdirected Submissions or other communications;
  • Errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, or delays arising during operation or data transmission, whether attributable to computer hardware or software, communication devices, transmission lines, or otherwise; or
  • Data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access, or alteration of submitted materials, or any other form of data loss. The Sponsor is not responsible for undeliverable electronic communications resulting from spam filtering or insufficient email storage, nor for any damage to a participant's computer system arising from accessing or downloading Contest-related content.

14. Reservation of Rights

The Sponsor reserves the right to modify the contest schedule and any applicable deadlines, and to revise, add, or cancel additional cutoff dates for any reason. If circumstances beyond the Sponsor's reasonable control — including without limitation strikes, pandemics, government mandates, work stoppages, accidents, acts of war or terrorism, civil or military unrest, nuclear events, natural disasters, or other force majeure events, as well as outages or failures of utility, communication, or computer services — render it commercially impracticable to award prizes as originally planned, the Sponsor may cancel the Contest in its entirety, decline to award prizes, or substitute alternative prizes. Any such changes will be posted on the official event page.

The Sponsor reserves the right of final interpretation of all contest rules and the right to amend relevant terms as necessary.

15. Miscellaneous Provisions

15.1 Privacy

By participating in the Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, processing, sharing, and use of their personal data and any other contest-related information for the purposes of administering the Contest, as further described in these Official Rules and in the Privacy Policy available at https://www.lostmary.com/privacy-policy.html.

15.2 Collection and Use of Personal Information

The Sponsor collects participant information for the purpose of administering the Contest and optimizing the participant experience. Information collected may include, but is not limited to: username, profile avatar, artist bio, country or city of residence, email address, phone number, login UID, and age bracket, together with a description of each submitted Submission. Username, email address, and phone number are used for communication purposes. Profile avatar and artist bio will be displayed alongside submitted works on the Contest website.

15.3 Severability

If any provision of these Official Rules is found to be invalid or unenforceable, such finding shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions. Any provision held to be invalid, unenforceable, or unlawful shall be deemed severed, and the remainder of these Official Rules shall continue in full force and effect as if such provision had not been included.

15.4 Governing Law and Venue

By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees that:

  • The entrant waives all claims against third parties arising from contest participation and shall defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor against any such claims;
  • Any claim arising out of or relating to the Contest or any prize awarded shall be brought on an individual basis only; no class action or collective proceeding of any kind is permitted; and all such claims shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) in accordance with its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The arbitration shall take place via video conference. The tribunal shall consist of one (1) arbitrator. The language of the arbitration shall be English.
  • The entrant irrevocably consents to the exclusive jurisdiction of AAA for all such disputes and waives any right to object to such jurisdiction;
  • All claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket expenses incurred in connection with contest participation and shall not include attorneys' fees under any circumstances; and
  • Under no circumstances shall any entrant be entitled to punitive, incidental, consequential, or indirect damages of any kind, and each entrant irrevocably waives all rights to seek such damages or any enhanced damage award.
  • All matters relating to the formation, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, and the rights and obligations of entrants and the Sponsor, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to any conflict-of-law or choice-of-law principles.

2. Eligibility Requirements

Participation is restricted exclusively to individuals aged 21 or older who have cast votes for Submissions in the BOLD TO BE SEEN 2026 Graphic Arts Contest.

3. Submissions

3.1 Submission Channel

All Submissions must be created exclusively through the brand's official dedicated design mini-program, which serves as the sole valid Submission channel for this Contest. Artworks produced using external software, created offline by hand, or compiled through third-party tools will not be accepted and shall be deemed invalid.

3.2 Submission Validation

One eligible participation in the Co-Creation Contest is granted per valid vote cast for an artwork in the Art Contest. The submitted creation will be recognized as the Entrant's official contest Submission.

3.3 Specifications for Creation Materials

Submissions are created through the brand's official dedicated design mini-program. Entrants may use the officially authorized assets available within the built-in material library — including designated icons, textures, color palettes, finish styles, and decorative components — and may also upload their own images to customize their designs. For any uploaded or externally sourced content, the entrant is solely responsible for ensuring they own or have secured all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions, and that such content does not infringe any third party's rights. Tampering with or modifying the mini-program's native base assets is not permitted. The rights and responsibilities relating to all submitted content are further governed by Sections 3.5 and 9 of these Official Rules.

3.4 Content Compliance Standards

All designs must center on CMF development — covering the Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) of the base model — with a focus on exterior texture, visual color coordination, and finish collocation. Submitted works must be positive, coherent, and aesthetically considered. Designs containing vulgar, unlawful, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate content are prohibited, as are third-party brand logos, sensitive imagery, or prohibited language. Malicious distortion or parody of the base product silhouette or official source materials is not permitted.

3.5 Originality and Copyright Terms

All Submissions must be independently created by the submitting entrant. Plagiarism, direct copying, or imitation of third-party designs or existing templates is strictly prohibited. Submissions must not infringe upon any third-party copyright, trademark, or intellectual property right. The submitting entrant bears full legal liability for any copyright disputes or infringement claims arising from their Submission, and the Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any such Submission from prize eligibility. The rights to submitted works are governed by Section 9 (Submission License; Rights Clearance; Publicity Release) of these Official Rules.

3.6 Submission Content Standards

Submissions must be complete, fully original, and free from plagiarism. Submissions must not contain hateful, violent, sexually explicit, or politically extremist content, content that is youth-appealing (including cartoon styles primarily designed to appeal to minors), or any other content that is unlawful or non-compliant under U.S. law.

Each Submission submitted must meet the following requirements:

  • Must not contain defamatory, derogatory or disparaging statements or imagery directed at the Sponsor, its products, or any third-party individual, brand or entity;
  • Must not include content inconsistent with the Sponsor's desired positive brand image and reputation. This prohibition includes, without limitation, content that is threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, intimidating, obscene, indecent, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable, as determined at the Sponsor's sole discretion;

5. Evaluation Process

Following the close of the Submission period, all Submissions will be published on the official LOST MARY event page and made available for public voting. The general public may cast votes for their preferred Submissions.

6. Voting Rules

Voters may cast one vote every 30 minutes in support of any eligible Submission.

6.1 Voter Eligibility

Voting is open only to individuals who are 21 years of age or older. By casting a vote, each voter confirms that they meet this age requirement. To cast a vote, voters must verify a valid email address. The Sponsor reserves the right to require additional verification of age or identity at any time, and to invalidate any vote cast by a voter who does not meet the eligibility requirements or who provides false information.

6.2 Prohibited Voting Conduct

Vote manipulation is strictly prohibited. This includes, without limitation, the use of bots, scripts, automated tools, plug-ins, multiple or duplicate accounts, fraudulent or fake accounts, third-party vote-buying or vote-farming services, or any inducement of others to vote through such means.

The Sponsor monitors voting activity through a combination of technical measures and manual review. Where the Sponsor identifies vote manipulation, it may, at its sole discretion, invalidate and deduct any votes determined to be fraudulent or non-compliant; suspend or permanently ban the offending account(s); publicly disclose instances of vote manipulation; and disqualify any Submission found to have benefited from vote manipulation, in which case the associated entrant forfeits all award eligibility. The Sponsor's determinations regarding vote validity and manipulation are final and binding.

9.2 Rights to Selected Submissions (Buyout for Winners/Finalists)

9.3 Waivers and Further Assurances

9.4 Rights Clearance and Warranties

10. Agreement to Official Rules & Disqualification

10.1 Agreement to Official Rules

By entering the Contest, each entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to these Official Rules and to the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest. By submitting a Submission, entrants expressly consent to participation in marketing, promotional, and endorsement activities conducted by the Sponsor and its partners. The Sponsor may reproduce and display submitted works on its website and in other promotional materials without attribution or compensation.

10.2 Disqualification

Any Submission failing to comply with provisions set forth in these Official Rules will be disqualified and ineligible for awards of any kind. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant found to be in violation of these Official Rules.

11.1 No Responsibility for Submission Failures

The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for:

  • Late, lost, stolen, damaged, corrupted, incomplete, erroneous, or misdirected Submissions or other communications;

13. Miscellaneous Provisions

13.1 Privacy

By participating in the Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, processing, sharing, and use of their personal data and any other contest-related information for the purposes of administering the Contest, as further described in these Official Rules and in the Privacy Policy.

13.2 Collection and Use of Personal Information

The Sponsor collects participant information for the purpose of administering the Contest and optimizing the participant experience. Information collected may include, but is not limited to: username, profile avatar, artist bio, country or city of residence, email address, phone number, login UID, and age bracket, together with a description of each submitted Submission. Username, email address, and phone number are used for communication purposes. Profile avatar and artist bio will be displayed alongside submitted works on the Contest website.

13.3 Severability

If any provision of these Official Rules is found to be invalid or unenforceable, such finding shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions. Any provision held to be invalid, unenforceable, or unlawful shall be deemed severed, and the remainder of these Official Rules shall continue in full force and effect as if such provision had not been included.

13.4 Governing Law and Venue

By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees that:

  • The entrant waives all claims against third parties arising from contest participation and shall defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor against any such claims;
  • Any claim arising out of or relating to the Contest or any prize awarded shall be brought on an individual basis only; no class action or collective proceeding of any kind is permitted; and all such claims shall be filed exclusively in federal or state courts located in the State of California;
  • The entrant irrevocably consents to the exclusive personal jurisdiction of California courts for all such disputes and waives any right to object to such jurisdiction;

Note that certain jurisdictions do not permit the limitation or exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, and the foregoing restrictions may not apply in all cases. All matters relating to the formation, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, and the rights and obligations of entrants and the Sponsor, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to any conflict-of-law or choice-of-law principles.
